After college, I had the privilege of working at one of the top golf courses in the country — an incredible place to learn at the highest level of course conditioning and maintenance. From there, I moved to a nearby club to serve as an Assistant Superintendent. What I didn’t know then was that I would spend the next 18 years of my life helping that club grow and thrive.

Over those years, I served as Director of Golf Course and Grounds, and for a time also took on the roles of Director of Clubhouse Maintenance and Interim Assistant General Manager. I loved that country club — and 99.9% of the members were truly great people to work with. Each year brought new projects, new goals, and continued recognition through annual raises, bonuses, and positive reviews.

Then one Sunday evening, out of nowhere, I received a phone call that my time there was over. It came as a shock — especially since the course had just been ranked for the first time in its history and was in some of its best condition ever.

​

It was one of those moments in life that you never see coming — but looking back, it became a turning point. Despite that small 0.1% that made the decision, I’ve stayed connected with so many of the members who continue to encourage me to this day. Random handshakes and hugs in grocery stores, golf courses, or even airports remind me that the relationships we build matter far more than any position or title.

That experience changed how I view leadership, communication, and the golf industry. It helped me see that sometimes a fresh outside perspective can make all the difference — not only in turf and maintenance operations, but also in how teams, management, and members work together.

That’s why I now dedicate my time to helping Superintendents, Golf Pros, General Managers, and club leaders across the country — and even internationally — find ways to improve their courses, strengthen communication, and bring out the best in their people.

​

Whether it’s agronomic guidance, operational insight, or simply being the middle communicator between a team and its members, my goal is to help every golf course be its best — in the grass, in the leadership, and in the relationships that make it all possible.
